● The Labrador Retriever

● The Poodle

● The First Generation Labradoodle 

Australian breeder Wally Conron created the first generation Labradoodle in 1989. Conron crossed a Labrador Retriever with a Standard Poodle to create a hypoallergenic guide dog for a visually impaired woman. 

The resulting puppies were affectionate and smart, yet they needed further refinement to develop the desired traits.

Consequently, subsequent crosses were made between Labradoodles and other breeds, including American Cockers, Irish Water Spaniels, and Curly Coated Retrievers. This resulted in the breed now known as a Multigenerational Labradoodle or Multigen Labradoodle. 

● The Second Generation Labradoodle 

This Labradoodle is bred from two F1 Labradoodles instead of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. 

These F1 Labradoodles have a more consistent temperament, coat type, and size than first-generation Labradoodles, making them a popular choice. 

Second-generation Labradoodles are great family pets due to their intelligence, loyalty, and laid-back personality. 

● Other Types of Labradoodles 

The Australian Labradoodle is a mix of the Labrador Retriever, the Poodle, the Irish Water Spaniel, the Curly Coated Retriever, and the American Cocker Spaniel. This type of Labradoodle is bred for temperaments suitable for therapy, service work, and companionship.
